About

I am RM, an author and modern hermit writing about film, AI, books, power and the small absurdities modern life keeps asking us to call normal.

Why The Modern Hermit exists

Modern nonsense usually arrives dressed as certainty. A company calls a downgrade progress. A platform calls exhaustion convenience. A powerful person calls self-interest leadership. The job here is to slow the claim down, look at the incentive underneath it and decide what still makes sense.

The satire aims at arguments, systems and institutions. It should expose a contradiction without turning ordinary people into targets for sport.

How the work is checked

The site has one simple rule: check the claim before sharpening the joke. Opinion stays opinion. Factual claims are checked against primary documents, official data and reliable reporting wherever possible. Sources sit with the article so readers can inspect the serious part for themselves.

The full sourcing, correction and disclosure policy is set out in the Editorial Standards.

Books and longer work

I am also a published author, writing and publishing longer work. The same questions run through the books and the site: what remains human when noise, fear and ambition have finished making their demands?

Corrections and contact

If a fact, source, quotation or caption looks wrong, use the corrections route and include the article URL. For general questions, use the contact page.
